As our course has a very proud tradition of The Open (6 time venue) and the Claret Jug (Musselburgh, Prestwick and St Andrews paid for it), an annual competition on the Sunday of the Open takes place. In fact two competitions, one for the Claret Jug but also one as a pro am with a Professional player playing on the Sunday. The combined scores of the member plus a drawn Open player to win the trophy.
The Claret Jug was won by Jackie Brown with a net score of 62, seen being presented by the Captain Billy Alexander. The Pro Am was won by Clifford Livingstone with a net 66 but he drew the lowest score of the day at The Open a 65 by the eventual winner Schauffele.

Saturday 6th July 2024 saw our club host the Musselburgh Challenge. A hickory competition held over 9 holes with invited teams from some of our neighbours but also from some of The Open host clubs. This year saw 12 teams including the R&A Golf Club of St Andrews and Prestwick who together with our course were the 3 original venues of the Open. Other clubs that were based at the course Bruntsfield Links and Royal Musselburgh also took part. After a very competitive competition the winners were a team from the Thorntree GC as seen above with the trophy. The Thorntree are a club within the Royal Musselburgh GC. The victory was by one shot from the runners up a team from Leith Rules as seen below.

The Lewisville was well attended by members and guests for once this year in wonderful sunshine. The scoring reflected the conditions with a Scratch low of 72 that also gave David Read the second lowest net score. However one of our previous C section champions who has shown huge improvements during the year, Liam Smith, won the Competition with a net 64.. As you may see Liam is already waiting for the Scotland EUROs game against Hungary as you can see by his attire. Lets hope he has a double celebration.

On Sunday 19th May we welcomed Junior Golf Sixes teams from Gifford GC, Craigielaw GC, Longniddry GC and West Links Juniors from North Berwick to play in a Golf Sixes event at Musselburgh Old Course.
Teams consisted of 6 players, playing as 3 pairs. Each pair played with another pair from one of the other clubs over 6 shorted holes.
Congratulations to West Links Juniors and Craigielaw for scoring the most points but this event is more about participation and enjoyment, so well done to everyone who took part on the day and thanks to the parents for coming along to support the event.
