Sunday 6th March 2022 – East Lothian Winter League Team Stroke-Play Tournament

On Sunday 6th March, 84 players from 14 Clubs from the East Lothian Winter League met at Musselburgh Old Course to compete in the 6 player team event, where three pairs of players from each club played in a greensomes, stroke-play format over 18 holes.

The winning Club would be the one with the lowest combined total score from their three pairs.

The course was in great condition with some tricky pin positions and it was Gullane GC who came out on top, winning by a single shot from Tantallon GC.

Congratulation to both teams and many thanks to everyone who helped out at Musselburgh Old Course Golf Club throughout the day.

350th Anniversary at Musselburgh Old Course

Yesterday, 2nd March 2022, marked the 350th Anniversary of golf first being documented as having been played on Musselburgh Old Course.

On that day, Sir John Foulis, of Ravelston, wrote :

This is believed to be the oldest game of golf ever recorded, on a course that is still in existence and actively played upon.

Many thanks to Sky Sports, Lewine Mair, Martin Dempster, Peter Bourhill and others who were here to cover our event.
