Sunday 11th August was finals day in our Club Championship after two rounds of qualifying the previous two Sundays. With midweek quarter finals and Saturday semi finals, the stage was set for all 4 finals to take place. A great line up and even the weather was perfect for playing golf.
Our Club Champion for the 2024 season is David Service who defeated Callum Livingstone in a 36 hole contest. It was the first time for both of them to be in the final, so a new name on our finals board in the clubhouse. Here you can see David with the trophy being congratulated by Callum.
The B section Championship was contested by Stevie Peters and Mark MacWhinnie again over 36 holes of matchplay. Stevie was the winner and defended the title he won last year. From the picture above it is easy to tell how happy he was to be holding the Trophy again.
The Senior title went to Alan Tweedie who played Terry Gillan. This was played over18 holes. Here you can see Alan, our Club Secretary, with the trophy being congratulated by Terry, our Club Treasurer.
The last of our finals was the C Section played over 18 holes by Wilbur McKenzie and Graham Malcolm. Here you can see the winner Graham with the shield shaking hands with Wilbur.
A special thanks for all the hard work needed to make this day possible and such a success. All the participants, qualifiers, Committee members, starters, referees, caddies, bar staff and kitchen staff. Plus all those that turned out to watch and support our members in all the finals, not just on Sunday but through the week. In the tradition of our club the winners all then had to sing a song, and some of our members could not resist joining in.
